Siblings Day

Raksha Bandhan, commonly known as Rakhi is a very special occasion to celebrate the undying bond of love between a brother and a sister. In India, this festival is nothing less than a grand celebration for everyone, which symbolizes the feeling of a strong and divine relationship between siblings.
This day embrace a special place in everyone’s heart that fosters togetherness between brothers and sisters. In Hindu culture, this occasion holds an auspicious place and is celebrated by everyone around the India. Though the name of the festival may differ among people, but the essence of sheer bonding between the siblings remains the same.
It is saying, " No matter how old you become but when you are with your siblings, you will definitely revert back to your childhood". The best memories majority of us cherish in life time are that of siblings stories, siblings talk, stupid ideas executed by either of our brother or sister, studying during exams, playing together, enacting like others, cooking some instant foods when parents are out, etc. are some of the most common siblings stories which every adult wishes to live again and again in their life. But most of us do not realize how lucky we are to have our siblings. The unconditional love for a brother or sister is something that should not be taken for granted. Even more than the friends or parents, siblings have been right by our sides through the awkward, embarrassing, joyous and miserable times of our lives. Our siblings were the behind the scenes at home. Siblings are usually raised together. So they understand each other better, even without a brief explanation. Relationship between siblings is a bit complicated especially in childhood. They fight and argue with each other every now an then, but at the end of the day they can't live without each other. At some point of time we believe them to be our biggest rival and at other moment feel immense love for them. With time as they mature, they understand each other much better and learn to respect more.
Siblings literally shape your life, you learn a lot from them. It is also heard, if you have a sibling younger than you, he or she protects you from several feelings like loneliness, guilt, fear, self consciousness etc. It’s said that siblings become better friends through the years. The lucky ones are those who are friends with their siblings. It is never to late to create a better relationship with your younger or older , despite any age difference. Though you may not call your sister your best friend, but she is. And no matter how many times your brother makes fun of you, he will always have your back.
This day needs to be celebrated with full fervor, and if your brother or sister stays away and cannot meet, still you can make their day special by sending rakhi or return gifts to their place. The distance should not spoil the celebration of this day.
Go call your brothers and sisters and tell them how they mean for you. Whether or not you see one another regularly, or only speak on occasion, family is family and a sibling is forever someone who will pick up the phone. Having a sister or brother is like having a best friend, you can’t get rid off. You know whatever you do, they will still be there.

Happy Raksha Bandhan!
